Abstract

The study aims to determine the extent of the adoption of vegetable farms to use organic fertilizers in central Jordan. primary data was collected from 368 vegetable farms randomly selected from the study area. the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. the results showed that the average age of farmers was 46.91 years, their average experience was 19.58 years, and the size of the farm was 16.68 dunums. the number of people working on the farm was 3.5 people, the average number of years of education was 12.64 years, and the average annual income was 9750 Jordanian Dinars. The result also showed that the rate of farmers’ adoption of the use of organic fertilizers was within the average level. Probabilistic regression analysis indicated that age and farm size reduced farmers’ adoption of organic fertilizers while education, experience, and annual incomes increased the use of organic fertilizers in the study area. the study recommended the necessity of holding training courses for them on organic farming and encouraging them by specialists to participate in adult education and training that will improve their skills in the use of organic fertilizers only, in order to increase the productivity of vegetables.
