الاستشراق والحج المسيحي في التاريخ المعاصر

تناولت هذه الدراسة مفهومًا حضاريًّا هو الاستشراق وعلاقته بالحج المسيحي في العصر الحديث ونظرة رجال الدين المسيحي الغربيين من مؤرِّخين وباحثين وحجاج للحج المسيحي من خلال مشاركة تجاربهم مع من يرغب من المسيحيين بالقيام برحلته إلى الأراضي المقدَّسة (فلسطين وشرق نهر الأردن) أو زيارة كهوف الرهبان الدينية المختلفة حول العالم. إن الحج المسيحي من وجهة نظرهم سيعود على الحاج بفوائد روحانية أكثر منها مادية من خلال زيارة أماكن الحج المسيحي الحقيقية؛ فالدعوة هنا تكمن بتعريف المسيحيين بالطقوس الدينية التي مارسها الحجاج الأوائل اقتداءً بالسيِّد المسيح وأتباعه من الحواريين الذين اتَّخذوا من نصوص الإنجيل المقدَّس مرشدًا لهم، فالحج ليس للتسلية أو لتمضية وقت الفراغ إنما هو عبادة وتوبة استمرت منذ القدم وما زالت مستمرة لوقتنا الحالي. وقد اشتملت هذه الدراسة على مقدَّمة وتعريف بمفهوم الاستشراق، ثم توضيح لوجهة نظر المستشرقين الغربيين للحج المسيحي مع إعطاء أمثلة على قصص الحجاج الذين قاموا برحلة الحج إلى الأراضي المقدَّسة، سواء على أرض الواقع أو في الحلم.
