This study examines Article 11 of the Frankfurt Peace Treaty signed in 1871 at the end of the Franco-Prussian War. It analysis the circumstances in which the signing of the Frankfurt Peace Treaty took place, and the insistence of the French side on the formula of Article 11 of this treaty, as well as the negative impact of this article on the development of economic and political relationships between Germany and France until the First World War. Although this study did not do justice – in a detailed way – to the long and very complex relations between Germany and France between 1871 AD and 1914 AD, it showed that the disruption of direct German-French economic relations had a great impact on the policy of international alliances in general, and on the relations between the German Reich and the Ottoman Empire in particular. Although many studies of German researchers have dealt with the Frankfurt Peace Treaty and its clauses in general, yet - within the limits of the researcher's knowledge - no study has dealt with German-French relations before 1914 AD, especially the impact of Article Eleven of this treaty on economic relations between Germany and the European powers on the one hand, and between Germany and the Ottoman Empire on the other hand, as an independent topic for research.The nature of the study necessitated relying on the analytical historical approach based on investigating information and data from its primary sources, analyzing its contents, and classifying it in proportion to the subject of the study.
