الملخص

أوضحت الاكتشافات الأثريَّة الحديثة في محافظة شمال الباطنة أنَّ للمنطقة دورًا حيويًّا ومهمًّا خلال العصر البرونزي المبكِّر (3200-2000 قبل الميلاد)، تمثَّل في وجود أعداد كبيرة جدًّا من مدافن ثقافة حفيت (3200-2700 ق.م) المنتشرة في فضاء واسع من محافظة شمال الباطنة، تبعها مستوطنات دائمة تعود إلى ثقافة أُمِّ النار (2700-2000 ق.م)، التي كشفت التنقيباتُ الأثريَّةُ فيها عن وجود ثقافة متطوِّرة اعتمد اقتصادُها على الزراعة وتعدين النُّحاس والتجارة الدوليَّة، خاصَّةً مع حضارة هربا في وادي السند.
