Reviewer’s guidelines
- Role, Scope and Purpose
As a reviewer for JJES, your role is to help ensure that manuscripts meet high standards of academic rigor and originality. You provide an objective evaluation of the manuscript’s quality, contribution, and suitability for publication. Your comments guide the Editor’s decision and support authors in improving their work.
- Eligibility and Responsibilities
Reviewers should:
- Possess relevant expertise in the manuscript’s subject area.
- Have no conflicts of interest (e.g., personal, professional, or financial).
- Commit to confidentiality and not use the manuscript’s content for personal advantage.
- Respond to review invitations promptly.
- Provide clear, constructive, and unbiased feedback.
- Notify the Editor immediately if ethical concerns arise (e.g., plagiarism, data manipulation).
- Confidentiality and Ethical Obligations
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not:
- Share or discuss manuscripts with others.
- Use AI tools that compromise confidentiality.
- Contact authors directly.
Conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the earliest opportunity.
- Structure and Content of the Review
Reviews should address:
- a) Summary and Evaluation
- Summarize the study’s aims, contributions, and findings.
- Assess novelty, relevance, clarity of research questions, methodology, data integrity, and alignment with JJES’s scope.
- b) Detailed Comments
- Provide constructive feedback referencing specific sections.
- Identify major issues (e.g., methodological limitations, insufficient data).
- Note minor issues (e.g., clarity, organization, referencing).
- Suggest improvements or additional literature if relevant.
- Report suspected ethical issues privately to the Editor.
- c) Recommendation
Choose one of the following:
- Accept
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
Provide clear justification to support your recommendation.
- Timeliness
Reviewers are expected to complete reviews within the agreed timeframe. If delays occur, the Editor must be informed promptly.
- Post‑Review Confidentiality
After submission of the review, the manuscript and your comments must not be discussed externally. All communication should occur through the journal’s editorial system.
